Create Your Own Horse Racing System: In Nine Simple Steps

Most people think that you need to be an expert to produce a successful and profitable horse racing system which produces winner after winner.

However creating your own winning system is not difficult if you follow these 9 simple steps.

Let’s consider a hypothetical horse called ‘Old Nag’ and see if conforms to these 9 steps!

All the relevant information on ‘Old Nag’ can be found in the offline or free online version of the ‘Racing Post’ which is the industries leading newspaper.

* The number of runners in a race will obviously affect the chances of ‘Old Nag’ winning. A big field means more competition. It follows that it would be difficult to pick a winner in a race of more than 12 runners.

* The type of ground a horse is running on is one of the most important factors in the outcome of a race. The ‘going’ should be good or good to firm. If the going is soft or heavy then the outcome of the race could well only depend only on the size of ‘Old Nag’s’ feet!

* When a horse ran its last race is also important. If ‘Old Nag’ has not run for a while it would be difficult to judge its present form. Its last race should have been run in the present season, and no longer than 28 days ago. The shorter the period from its last race the better.

* Of course it would not be a good bet if the horse ran a few days ago only to come in last! It follows that its form or where it was placed in the last few races is important. Ideally you would want ‘Old Nag’ to have come in first or second in the last 3 races.

* The distance the race has to be run is also important. If the race is too short ‘Old Nag’ may not have enough time to show its true form. On the other hand if the race is too long anything could happen… the apocalypse might come, or the jockey might fall asleep! A safe distance would be between 5 furlongs and less than 3 miles.

* The ‘Racing Post’ is the countries leading newspaper on all things to do with horse racing. Only the top tipsters appear in this paper. Their forecast for the winner of each race appears in a part of the Racing Post called ‘The Selection Box’. If 60 to 80% of them tip ‘Old Nag’ as the potential winner then its time to sit up and take note.

* The letters C and D sometimes appear in the horses form. The C means the horse has been a winner over this particular course at sometime in the past. The D means he has been a winner over the distance the present race is being run. If C or D (or preferably both) appear then this is a strong indication that the horse should be considered.

* Handicap races are notoriously difficult to predict as theoretically all horses should pass the finishing line at the same time. So choosing non handicap races means even ‘Old Nag’ might have a chance.

* Finally favourites win around 33% of the time. So look out for favourites especially if they are 3/1 or lower in the betting.

Of course even if ‘Old Nag’ meets all these criteria there is still no certainty that it will win. There is a way, however, where you will ALWAYS profit from a race. You can email me at ian.paton3@btinternet.com for more information on this.

Horse Racing Tip for Wednesday

I think it is now time to get back to some tips on Sports Betting for Fun after my recent lay-off.

Classic Sports Quote

Well I have not posted any selections for a while - that's a good thing really because my form has been crap. I don't have a selection for tomorrow either, the racing looks dreadful. Instead I will try to entertain you with this classic sports quote from the Duke of Edinburgh back in 1984......

"The horse is a great leveller and anyone who is concerned about his dignity would be well advised to keep away from horses."

I know he wasn't talking about tipping horses - but he should have been!

Horse Racing Betting Strategy

Horse Racing Betting Strategy by HorseRacer

Let's face it. Gambling, in this case, on horse races, comes with risks. And it is probably the one risk we are unwilling to make at times because it involves our money. There is, however, a very simple way to improve your odds of winning. It is called statistics.

In order to make any form of intelligent decision, one must first become acquainted with each of the associated risks and the value of each risk. Especially in the case of horse racing where a win or lose situation could mean a lot of money out of the pot or a lot of money into the pot. To assess the risks involved and to determine their worth, I will give you three simple tips. If, at the end of the article, you feel that you would like to learn more, please click this link or refer to the link in my biography.

Tip #1 - Research the entrants before-hand

Your goal here is to have a good background in each of the horse's history in terms of wins and loses. In order to assess the values of the odds offered (in tip #2), you must be able to pre-judge each of the horses in your own mind as to whether it is a viable horse to bet on or not, irrespective of their odds. This can be done through conventional means or through the internet. Feel free to strike up a conversation with a fellow horse-better to gain some valuable knowledge on the horses' statistics.

Tip #2 - Assess the odds

Each horse will have a specific odds (in the form of a ratio: 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, etc.). The odds placed on horses is created by the oddsmaker, who almost always has good knowledge about the horses, their statistics, and horse-racing in general. Your objective is to beat these oddsmakers at their own game. For now, just keep track of the odds of the various horses, preferably in written form. Both tip #1 and tip #2 is necessary before you can move on to tip #3 and improve your betting.

Tip #3 - Assess the value and type of bet

You have knowledge of each horse and you know the odds placed for the horses. What now? Now that you have the two most important pieces of information for each horse, you can piece together the significance or value of a specific horse and its odds. I will illustrate a purely hypothetical situation (this will never happen).

Assume a horse, Blazing Thunder, has the odds of 3:1. And you know, from researching, that Blazing Thunder has taken first, second, and third place quite a bit more than it has come in any of the other subsequent places. So, you can qualitatively decide that the odds of Blazing Thunder taking a winning position is highly in your favor. Also, referring back to Blazing Thunder's odds of 3:1, you know that if Blazing Thunder does win, you will be paid out at three times your initial bet amount minus any commission costs.

Now, this situation is completely unrealistic. A good horse will have a lower odds offered because too much winning in the better's favour will put the Sports Book out of business. However, this is the mentality you must keep. Gauge the relative performance of a horse in comparison to it's odds. Choose a few of the best horses that you think can win, systematically and logically. Don't leave it up to intuition unless you're clairvoyant.

There are a numerous amount of betting types. I will not describe all of them but I will describe the few which I believe are easy enough for the beginner but still has a decent winning opportunity. The most obvious one is the straight bet. This entire article was more generally focused towards straight betting. Straight betting just means that you bet on horses at given specified odds (created by the oddsmaker). You only collect your pot if your horse wins 1st place. The second betting type which I recommend is parlaying/accumulator betting or double betting. This allows you to choose the winners of several subsequential races all at once. With good planning, you can determine the winners of the races while not having to place bets more than once.

These are just the basic tips to help you become a better horse better. There are so many other things you could do in order to increase your chances of success. For better tips to help you become an expert horse better, I highly recommend the e-book in my biography or the link above. This book covers everything I have covered and tremendously more in great detail to help you become the better you always wanted to be.

Tennis tip for Tuesday 2nd July

Sunday's selection by Sports Betting for Fun did not run due to the cancellation of racing at Salisbury. Nothing in Monday's racing appealed to me enough to consider betting on it and Tuesday's racing looks the same. So I will try my hand at selecting a winner at Wimbledon.

Juan Carlos Ferrero looks to be good value at 8/11 to beat Janko Tipsarevic. Of course, with the weather the way it is anything could happen - Wimbledon might float away!

Back to Football

It was 3rd time unlucky for me on Friday - the 3rd Tennis bet in 3 days came a cropper.

Back to Football for Saturday's tip. The season is nearly over and promotion and relegation issues are causing strange results, but I am relying on a low scoring encounter between Yeovil and Doncaster. Back under 2/2.5 goals at Pinnacle 1.91 (10/11) or under 2.5 goals at Expekt 1.70 (7/10). Also available with many other books, these were the best odds at the time of writing.

Good luck and back again later.

Tennis Success!

Jakko Nieminen completed a straight sets victory over Seppi earlier today. A very pleasing result that has encouraged me to have another go at Tennis forecasting.

This time we go to Casablanca, Morocco for the ATP Grand Prix. The selection is Sebastian Grosjean to beat Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo. Best odds I can find are 1.67 (2/3) at Pinnacle Sports.

More Tennis

Jakko Nieminen won very nicely for us today, so it's another Tennis selection for tomorrow.

In the ATP Open Seat, Barcelona I am tipping David Nalbandian to defeat Carlos Moya. The odds are a bit short again, the best I can find is 1.50 (1/2) at Ladbrokes - pretty good value in my opinion.

Back again tomorrow.

Anyone for Tennis?

It looks like Shrewsbury are suffering promotion jitters, just like Hartlepool last Friday. Lowly Wrexham did their own position a power of good, ruining my evening in the process!

Never mind, I am only lending the money to the bookie, I plan to recoup some of it tomorrow by backing Nieminen to beat Seppi in the Barcelona ATP tournament. The odds are a bit short, the best I can find is 1.59 at Pinnacle, but it still looks good value to me.

Back again tomorrow.

Tuesday's Football Tip

Back to England for Tuesday's selection - I will back Shrewsbury to beat Wrexham in League 2. The odds are around 5/6, so good value considering the relative positions of the teams in the league table. The Asian Handicap -0.5 line may offer slightly better value than a home win in the 1X2 market.

Good luck, I should be back again tomorrow.

Winning ways again!

Back to winning ways again as Real Mallorca managed a 1-0 win against Gimnastic. I decided to take the Asian Handicap -0.75 offer, so it was only a half winner for me, but I am satisfied with that. A winner is a winner. after all.

No tip for today - the racing looks very difficult and there is very little football, certainly nothing that I would risk my money on, anyway. I should be back later with tomorrow's selection.

Another let down!

The journey north of the border didn't provide the good fortune I was expecting after all. Aberdeen were unable to complete the victory desired, even though Hibs were down to 10 men for much of the second half.

It is obviously the wrong time of year for predicting football in Britain, so I am heading further afield for Sunday's prediction. I fancy Real Mallorca to beat Gimnastic in the Spanish Primera League. The odds vary considerably between the various bookies, but it should be possible to get 3/4 at the very least, take -0.75 on the Asian Handicap and 11/10 is available from Pinnacle and Bet365, at the time of writing.

Saturday's Football Selection

Hartlepool must be suffering winning the title jitters! Only managing to draw at home to Notts County and probably should have lost - Notts missed a penalty in the second half.

No sense crying over spilt milk, we'll go north of the border for Saturday's selection. Aberdeen -0.5 v Hibs is the recommendation. Available at 4/5 or slightly better with Pinnacle Sports and Victor Chandler, lets hope that Hibs poor away form continues. It's a 12.30am kick off so don't miss out. Good luck, I'll be back again tomorrow. I have yet to study the horses, so if anything stands out I will be posting again in the morning.

Friday's Selection

Back to Football again for Friday's tip. High flying Hartlepool look excellent value to beat Notts County, especially if we take the Asian Handicap line -0.75. Victor Chandler are currently offering 2.0 (evens in English money!) , so that's what I'm going for.

Apologies to any Notts County fans, but I will be looking for a sound victory by Hartlepool - 2-0 or 3-1 will do very nicely thank you.

Back again tomorrow with something for Saturday.

Back to winning form!

Laustra Bad did the business very nicely at 11/8. Better odds than expected, so a good earner, too.

Thursday's racing looks very difficult to predict and there is hardly any football, so I think I will take a rest. I should be back tomorrow night with Friday's advice.

Bye for now.

Too many goals!

Well Arsenal found their shooting boots and ruined our winning run! With the first goal coming early it was virtually impossible to trade too. Time to move on to tomorrow and back to the horses again. Some good fields at both Newmarket and Cheltenham - I think Laustra Bad has a great chance in the 2.20 at Cheltenham. The odds don't look too promising, the Racing Post forecast is 4/5, but that just reflects the fact that the selection is much better than the rest.

Good luck, all being well I'll be back again tomorrow.

Day 3

Well, Mustameet did the job very nicely at 5/4, so that's 2 out of 2!

Didn't have any opportunity to get online earlier today, due to work. Shame really because I would have posted a nice winner. No sense worrying about what could have been - we have to move on.

Racing looks a bit trappy tomorrow, so it's back to Football. I fancy Arsenal v Man. City for under 2.5 goals. It may be worthwhile backing this one on the exchanges - Betfair have this as in "in-running" game, so it may be sensible to trade out if there is no score after 30 or 40 minutes (my natural caution again).

Good luck with the selection and hopefully I will be back tomorrow.

Sunday 15 April 2007

Day 2

Portsmouth did the business for us yesterday, so that was a good start. It paid for my beer last night anyway!

Having scoured the football fixtures of Europe today I cannot find anything that looks good value, so I will have a go on the horses. Over to Ireland, 3:55 at the Curragh, Mustameet is the selection. You can get 5/4 with most bookies at the time of writing, I suspect this price will shorten nearer the race time, so take it on the early offer if you can.

Good luck with the selection, hope to post again tomorrow, but it may not be possible due to work commitments.

My first posting

Welcome to my blog. One of my hobbies is betting - not serious stuff, just a few quid here and there. Hopefully successful enough to pay for a few beers, or a nice meal, treats for the kids, whatever takes your fancy.

This is my first attempt at going public. I have successfully advised friends many times, so from now on my tips will be available to a wider audience. Assuming anyone finds their way to this site, that is!

Anyway, today's recommendation is Portsmouth to beat Newcastle in the Premier League. I would advise taking the Asian handicap -0.25 offer, it reduces the odds, but gives us a bit of protection should a draw result, as we get half the stake back. Last time I checked Ladbrokes and Stan James were still offering this line, Victor Chandler and many other bookies have moved it to -0.5, which is the same as going for the win on the 1X2 market.

That's it for now, good luck with the tip, I will try and post tomorrow's selection a bit earlier!
